Default Shifting questions in manual mode.

I looked all over and didnt find a topic on this. This mainly happens at start up when the tranny is "cold". It will skip a gear in manual mode. Like today I went into 2nd hit the paddle to shift to third and it hung for a second and then shifted to 4th.

Again it I only happens at the start of the day when the engine and tranny are cold.

I noticed this first day I bought my RA.
I figured out when your Auto Mode & you use the paddle to shift manually it will skip a gear.

Now if you're on Manual mode & use the paddle to shift it will not skip a gear.
So from I noticed it is only in Auto mode.

Yea... Mine is doing it in manual mode. I have the stick shifted to the left and everything. It does it it in start up but only when the car is cold.

hmmm. thats not normal. Mine never skipped a gear in Manual mode.
Sometimes I could've sworn I pull the stick down but it doesnt shift up (could be operator error = stupid me)

I only notice it skip from D2 to 4th in Auto mode & using paddles.

Or D3 to 5th Gear or D4 to 6th gear etc.
This only happens in Auto mode, my guess is the way ECU & TCU talk to each other in auto mode.

Since you say it happens when it is cold & it does it in manual, it may have to do with your throttle position/input.

Should I have the car looked at? I mean if the car is warmed up it has none of these issues.

I can get mine to do it from second into third when in manual, but there's a trick. I'll try to recreate the effect this weekend, I read where sometimes if you let the car hang in second gear then accelerate slowly downhill, it'll shift itself. Like in a parking structure.

OK stupid question if you are in Auto mode and you know you are in auto mode why are you manually shifting the transmission?
If you want to shift it manually put it in manual mode LOL !
too funny!

Don't worry I am not in "auto-matic" manual mode. Shift nob is indeed being switched over.
