Default How to: Polish aluminum

Sand Papers

What I got (what I need)
500 grit (400 grit)
1,000 grit (800 grit)
1,200 grit (1,600 grit)

oh well gotta use what i got.

Glove are important if you dont want aluminum particles under your finger nails.
Mask is important too so you dont breath the particles into your lungs = bad
& Im a smoker.

500 grit first to til you get reflection try to sand as evenly & consistently as possible (long strokes) "thats what she said"
if you r not getting reflection then you are not sanding enough.
Keep sanding,... it took me 3hrs..... of 500 grit with elbow grease & I would've done the job quicker with a sander (which Im too cheap to buy)
I got more time than money so polishing pipes occupied my after work evening & its rewarding. Look its starting to shine! lol.

1,000 grit to smooth out the 500 grit scratch marks

1,200 wet sand to smooth & mirror polish.

& polish cream (which I still need)

Nice work. Looks good so far. If the LICP wasn't such a pain to put in/take out, I'd be doing it too.

Sanding by hand is more painful non stop for 3hrs til it shine. lol.
The hoses are your biggest PITA to take off. but still not that bad.
Do it Wayne! If you need help, I can help you. Get a palm size sander that can use off the shelf sand papers (not the sander with their own special sand paper = expensive)

How much did you paid for that metal pipe you put in place from LICP to BOV? Home depot??? I might have to take that route if I cant find a rubber hose.
Thanks...

I think the pipe is the best way to go. I had to order it online from here. It came out to $19.59.

Sorry, totally forgot to say which one. The 1 3/8" x 6" one worked perfectly for me.

Good find. I'm a bit worried about beading the 1.5" diameter. Will that mean the bead will be larger? Might be a tight fit but I'm sure you'll manage to get it on. Let me know how it goes.
