Default First 500 miles "Impression"

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to post my impression of my 2010 ralliart with 48500 miles on it. I picked it up about 6 weeks ago and have put about 500 miles on it.

As I have read through various post on this forum, I have notices alot of tranny talk. Well here is my first thoughts and how it is acting.

When I first drive it in the morning (temp 40*F) it shifts hard and while driving down my block in 3rd gear at a steady speed the RPMs jump up and down a little. I don't know, but it is very consistent every morning.

After about 3 minutes everything smooths out. No more RPM jumping and it shifts just fine.

Now my wife drives a 2012 Golf TDI with the DSG and let me tell you that the DSG is very smooth anytime I drive it. Nothing like the SST. The SST just seems tempermental....Thoughts?

TC-SST for the Ralliart/Evo was made more for performance than smoothness honestly. The DSG you're running in a TDI Golf is meant for more smooth driving.

You'd be right though, TC-SST is a bit tempermental but still very fun.

I read it somewhere that SST tries to shift up quicker when cold, this is to warm up the car quicker. Can't find the reference though, but I think I remembered correctly

most people forget the tranny fluid has an optimal temp range. It runs like shit when too hot, or too cold. It's just that one is a more constant problem.. personally I've noticed this a lot, so I keep the driving cool for the 3/5 min warmup period.
