If I was 19 all over again I would so be all over that. But really there isnt enough lip tp properly put a cone filter on the EVO MAF housing. When the EVOs first came out we took one apart of course. "Wow, you can put a filter right on the MAF"... almost. The lip just isnt wide enough.

Doing this will make more noise to impress the high school girls and boys. It wont make any power. The filter is not holding you back. It is the dixie cup sized turbo.

From another post I wrote:

The turbo inlet on the RalliArt is tiny. Take your smallest Dixie cup. 2” diameter on the big end, 1 ½” diameter on the small end.

Here is the stock turbo inlet:

Put the Dixie cup inside:

Did I mention how small the stock turbo is? :-P

I knew it was small but that really puts it into perspective... I'm headed over tomorrow to my local dealer to see if they have any of those parts kicking around and are "willing" to part with them. I have a 3" filter that I can put on the end of the MAF housing so it should be a done deal. That is, once I get back to car which is currently in a different province then me for christmas break.

Did this mod on my car. Like Mike says it's the turbo that's restricting and not the air intake. For the money spent I say it was worth it, it's pretty much the exact setup as the UR sri. Like you guys had mentioned there is an issue with the cone filter remaining on the maf housing. The best solution that I found for this was to drill two holes, one on each side of the maf housing and the filter itself. I secured it with some small bolts and all is well. I did notice a little more response and a lot more noise. Doesn't really do much though. Like others have mentioned, the stock air box with a high flow filter will suffice. A aftermarket air intake isn't necessary until a larger turbo is utilized, only then will it make a difference.

Do you have pictures of this drilling for the filter?

sorry for the double posts but I just found this out. I just posted my findings on EVOM aswell.

"Thought everyone would want to know that on Mitsubishiparts.net under the OEM parts search the air flow tube from a 2010 is $31.83 and the 2008 air flow tube is $33.74. I want to know, is there actually a difference besides price in these two parts?"

I don't believe they made the RA in 2008... so that is probably for a normal Lancer, I'm not sure if there is a difference in the intakes, I'd imagine there would be.
