Default which would you prefer?

I don't think there is a thread like this so here goes. What turbo would you perfer? Hks? Evo x? Or anything else that the evo x would be able to use?
And if anyone could what's our trans and chasis capable of?

This info is out there. Gotta search...

But to answer your second question, you can make 300-330 whp reliably, but anything over can cause havoc on the SST.

While most agree that range is the relatively *safe* one for our SST, there are people out there making more.

Bryan is at 370whp/326wtq
Kris is at 375whp/403wtq

And there are plenty more... It's all about the tune. As long as you have a good tuner you'll be fine to about 350 to 370 WHP. After that point, I'd start looking at some upgraded clutch packs, but once you give the SST some love, you can go to 400 or 500whp and beyond.

As for the questions on turbos, It depends on your goal.... do you want to make good power with low lag and quick spool? Want a ton of power with slower spool? It all depends. A smaller turbo will spool quicker, but you'll get less HP.

300 HP with low-lag... CBRD RAD Lite or EvoX Swap

350 HP with low lag... BBX-L or FP Green

400 - 500 HP... FP Red or Black... slow spool

Evo X turbo is not the fastest or the most powerful but it is factory part.
4b11t is already designed for it. Maybe CBRD BBX Lite keeping low rpm boost, Less Lag quicker spool for the additional force.

Once you go bigger turbo things like head studs, better gasket, cooling, timing chain, engine oil & sst cooler upgrade, fuel pump, fuel injectors will become very necessary.

Once you upgrade "force" induction everything internal should be upgraded along with additional "force" coming in. Otherwise, it is just a ticking time bomb running on luck.

Just because you put a bunch of parts on & tuning will not guaranty reliability. Things can go wrong during tuning because of not having things installed properly or no supporting mod for the "upgrade" can lead to bad things happening.

If you want reliability start with supporting parts to withstand the "force" being added.

Cooling is more important than the turbo upgrade itself.
As far as the internals if we had the stress point test data we can make better assessment. ie how much pressure can the block/head hold before lifting & destroying itself. Valves, Springs, retainers, pistons, rods, crank.
bearings

The rest is all math trying to figure out what will added force will do to the current setup & figuring out how to withstand/keep up the additional forces to make it reliable. Just reiterating.

SST has potential & is capable of much more but only time/money will tell.

There are places that make transmission can build them to your spec, if you have enough money to throw at them.

Garrett makes some direct replacement turbos that fit an Evolution X:
http://turbobygarrett.com/turbobygar...shi_Lancer.htm

They estimated to be good for 475-525 HP, but there would be significant lag from what I see.

As for a 16G, I don't see the point in using one, the EvoIII had a special version of it, and made ~250 HP.
