Default Black out

WHat is the proper way to black out your chrome ring and possibly front lip of the RA using plasti-dip? Do you have to take the chrome off, or just tape everything? how do you take off the chrome ring?

1. Remove the front bumper
2. Remove the chrome ring
3. Clean the surface
4. Apply light coat of plastidip (repeat if necessary)

No sanding is needed. Only prep work required is cleaning the surface.

If you don't want to remove the bumper, you can still remove the chrome ring. Some people say it's not worth the effort, but once you've done it one time it's very easy to do. I can get mine removed from the bumper in 5 minutes because I've memorized where the screws are located.

I can't comment on the Plastidip, I had mine vinyl wrapped in flat black.

FWIW I was so lazy I didn't even remove the ring... just used my mad masking skills and plasti-dip. No one would even be able to tell.

Well... in light of my first post.. laziness has also overtaken my ability to keep up with my current status. I'll move that discussion back to my original welcome post! See you there!

it is possible to remove the chrome ring without removing the front bumper. there are a bunch of little screws holding it in from the back and with the use of a small screwdriver and a socket wrench with a phillips head bit, i got it off. wasnt fun but it was a lot quicker than removing the entire front bumper.

sprayed it with 2 coats, then put it back and only put back about 8-10 of the ~20 screws. the ones that were a PITA were not put back lol

Sounds like what others have experienced too. Nice work! How do you like it?
