Default The Shark

Hey guys, I just ordered my first mod. The HKS drop-in air filter. So I figured I'd start my own thread to keep track of what I do and allow you guys to ask any questions or give suggestions. I have a feeling this is going to mainly turn into a big wish list because I'm the kind of person that takes forever to buy something because I research the hell out of every potential part. lol

Anyways, some pics:

Mod list:

Some dealer installed tid-bits like the window tint. The previous owner also had the MMCS installed at the dealer after he bought it.

HKS Super Hybrid drop-in filter
SilverStar running lights
Plasti-Dipped chrome ring and lip
De-chrome (plasti-dip) fender accents
Yellow foglight tint
Rexpeed pillar pod w/ ProSport boost and oil pressure gauges

Wish list:

Change rear badges
3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber B pillars, center bumper piece & some interior parts
Blue Halogen or 6000k or 8000k HIDs
Evo X fender vents
18X8.5 +35 Rota Torque Hyper Black
SharkFin antenna
Painted calipers
D2 Racing RS Coilovers or RRM Springs (I want a nice stance while not losing any ride comfort. If you have any suggestions, let me know)
Roof vortex generators
Scorpion front diffuser lip
Whiteline rear sway bar
AMS FMIC
Ultimate Racing muffler
Boost pill
Re-tune

A few other things I may be interested in one day if the opportunity presents itself but are low priorities:

Various CF accents (Rexpeed/Evo-R) for interior and exterior
Password:JDM CF engine and spark plug covers
Do-Luck style trunk or Rexpeed duckbill spoiler
a decent aftermarket intake system
CF hood
HKS SSQV3 BOV
Evo X style widebody kit

My goals for this car are to reduce the lag while increasing the mid to top end power a bit. I don't want it to be crazy fast, just a little more then stock. I also want it to look really nice

Comments? Questions?

I'm not gonna lie, I actually wanted WW :P

But this was the only one in the state at the time and it was a great price so I jumped on it. I have to say, GG is my second favorite though

Nothing wrong with researching.
Good things come to those who wait.
or we get left behind. lol.

HKS bov imo is the worst bov ever, comparison to others on the market.
Have a friend with EVO X with one he had nothing but problems. Leaks & not holding boost. etc. Not trying to deter you from getting what you want but you should compare that to some other bovs on the market.

From what I've heard, a BOV doesn't really do anything performance-wise for our cars with the stock turbo other then being more solid. I would be getting it strictly for the sound (The SSQV3 sounds better then the Evo X one imo) and it would also look cool in the engine bay, same with the intake setup. With both those things installed and then a custom tune, I think it would run well but I wouldn't really get any more power from those parts. Thats why I have both those things listed under the low priority section. If I find them for cheap or local, I'll probably buy them and keep them off my car until I'm ready for a tune.

BOV hold boost (XX psi) until spring pressure gives in & it either vent to outside or back inside into your intake.
In HKS when it makes the sound "pew pew" it flatters & loses performance compared to other bov. FYI.
I think my friend is selling his HKS bov, if you're interested I can/will let him know.

Well the HKS has different settings. I figure if they fiddle with it while I get the tune they could at least get it to a point where I won't lose any power... I might be wrong though. If I still lose power, there is always the re-circ kit. Jackal here has it and says it helps.

In the end, it would have to be cheap enough to be worth the wait and risk. How much is your friend selling it for? Is it the same one made for the RA or would I probably have to get an adapter or something?

I like the black/white contrast. The black accents get a little lost on a GG imo. I will say that GG tends to make the car look more expensive then WW, classy

I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do with the decorative front plate that came with my plate holder and I had this idea...

What do you guys think? it doesn't really sit there flush because the bumper is curved and the plate obviously isn't... do you think it would hold on with some 3m double sided tape at highway speed?
